How long should I stay in Cairns?

“Longer the stay the better….” is our best answer.

For a leisure stay let’s start at a minimum of 3 nights and from this point you can build yourself a wonderful tour itinerary.

Upon arrival at the Cairns Queenslander Hotel & Apartments after your 2pm check-in, waste no time as this is a truly wonderful destination. Start by asking one of our friendly receptionist’s for a complimentary city map and day tour brochures of the Great Barrier Reef and Kuranda Village by skyrail & scenic train. Along with the city map take these brochures with you and venture along the nearby picturesque esplanade boardwalk. Follow easy directions  heading south to the iconic Cairns Esplanade swimming lagoon area. Feeling peckish after your 1.6km stroll? (I should mention, it is a relatively easy walk, no hill climbs). Once past the beach volleyball, skateboard park and muddy’s childen playground , you will discover plenty of gift shops, cafes & restaurant’s, also an inexpensive food court dining option all easily can be found. Another favoured option; once you’re in the vicinity of the lagoon, glance in an easterly (ocean) direction and you’ll notice The Pier shopping complex. Walk through to the opposite side you’ll discover the Pier marina boardwalk, here you’ll find a good choice of restaurants offering picturesque trinity inlet alfresco dining.  Over dinner decide on your preferred day tours. Once you’ve returned to the Cairns Queenslander our friendly receptionist will happily make those day tour bookings for you.

So there you have it, on day one of arrival you have now planned a wonderful reef & rainforest tour itinerary.

Day two suggestions: For a Great Barrier Reef full day tour you can explore the Outer Great Barrier Reef with Reef Magic Cruises or Reef Experience. If you prefer a Great Barrier Reef Island experience; Green Island day tour with Big Cat Green Island Reef Cruises. For a more remote island experience Frankland Islands Cruise & Dive.

Day three suggestions: For a Kuranda, Skyrail & Train full day , Cairns Tours offer various touring options.

Day Three continued: In the evening simply relax at the Cairns Queenslander and enjoy a wonderful dining experience at our very own popular char-grill restaurant ‘Steak on Lake’, table reservations are recommended.

Day Four: After breakfast its goodbye to Cairns but hopefully not for long as a return visit is a must. There is so much more to see & do in this wonderful tropical region of Australia.

We have put together two very popular money saving options; accommodation at the Cairns Queenslander combined with some of the best day tours in 3 or 4 night package. Click Here to view our Specials on our website
